The Future of Mortgages: How Online Banking is Revolutionizing the Industry

The rise of online banking and the success of major online banks are transforming how we manage our finances, including mortgages. With virtually all lenders having an online presence, new innovations are making mortgages more flexible and offering fantastic deals for borrowers.

Finding and Comparing Mortgages Online

  • Easy Comparison: The internet is a powerful tool for comparing mortgage deals. Websites like Moneyfacts provide impartial information and tables of current best deals. They annually award the best lenders, which can be a reliable indicator of good rates and terms.

  • Streamlined Applications: Many mortgages can now be applied for online, saving you from lengthy paperwork and postal delays.

Innovative Online Mortgage Providers

  • Intelligent Finance: Known for its reputation in offset and flexible mortgages, Intelligent Finance allows you to manage your personal accounts, savings, and mortgage online. An offset mortgage can reduce your mortgage payments by using the balance in your savings and current accounts to offset the mortgage principal.

  • Cahoot: Offers mortgages through Abbey with exclusive rates for online customers. Although the range of products is currently limited, the rates are competitive, and the trend toward more online mortgage options is growing.

Online Conveyancing

  • Convenient Process: The rise of online business extends to conveyancing, with companies offering email or text message updates and online progress reports. This can simplify the process by eliminating the need for in-person meetings with solicitors.

Seeking Advice and Resolving Issues

  • Financial Services Authority (FSA): For general mortgage advice or to address complaints, the FSA website is a valuable resource. It provides information and links to ombudsman schemes designed to protect financial consumers.

By leveraging online tools and services, you can streamline the mortgage process, access better deals, and manage your mortgage more conveniently than ever before.
